Just over a month after his arrival in New York, Leon Theremin made the first public presentation of the instrument he invented, the thereminvox, or theremin. He landed in New York on December 21, 1927 and made his first private presentation at the Plaza Ballroom on January 24. For the public presentation, on January 31, the Metropolitan Opera House was chosen. The beautiful poster that we have faithfully reproduced was printed to publicize the historic event.
